The scene: I have been cooped up in my house all day staring at my computer doing work just starving for real social interaction. But picking out a place, calling my friends and getting ready sounds like a lot of work too.

I am going to make this process fun and simple for you so that it won’t be a hassle and you won’t end up on the couch watching Netflix again.

Before we even start looking at places we have to decide what mood we are in. Do I want to read a book in a cozy cafe? Or maybe you want to find a new craft cocktail place?

Whatever your feeling, go with that feeling! This is going to narrow down your options and you’re going to be less stressed about making decisions from here on out.

If you don’t know what kind of mood you’re in then go look on Instagram for ideas! I use the places search mostly for my inspiration when I get stuck. Just type in an area or city and it will pull up different locations! You will be able to see all the photos everyone has posted about that place, which I think is a great way to get in the mood.

INSIDER SOCIAL TIP: Push the envelope a little bit when deciding what kind of mood you’re in. If you always go to coffee shops, why not try something different? Try rock climbing! You never know if you’re going to like something unless you try it!

Now that we have set the mood we can easily decide if we want others there or not.

For instance, if you’re in the mood to read that new book you just got in the mail from Amazon and sip some coffee then you’re probably not going to invite someone.

But if you decided that you’re going to enjoy the nightlife a little bit then call up the squad. It is way safer and it keeps the social vibes flowing.

If you are struggling to find friends to go out with maybe you should go read my blog post about “Overcoming Shyness.” No shame in making new friends!

No one likes the feeling of leaving a restaurant with a lighter pocket and not enjoying the food. In order to prevent this situation, we need to do some research.

Now I know what you’re thinking, “that sounds like work and I just want to have fun.” But better safe than sorry. I would hate for ya’ll to go out and not have a good time because you didn’t read the reviews!

Luckily, I have found several apps that can make choosing a place easy!

If you’re not an app kinda gal then check your cities online paper! There are always reviews of new restaurants and cool places to check out.

From Dallas? Then there is a great site called and it list all the events happening in the city that day! I love to utilize this site when I’m trying to show a friend from out of town a good time. If you are not from Dallas then no worries, this website has different sites for lots of cities!

Well, that’s it! Simple right? Three easy steps to a hassle-free and fun time. You shouldn’t already be wiped walking through the door of that coffee shop just from finding it! Reward yourself with an easy and great time trying someplace new!
